Human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) are manufactured as cell therapy products. This requires a tightly controlled and fully understood production process, usually taking place in stirred-tank bioreactor. In this review, the impact of bioreactor geometry well equipment-related parameters is discussed. We provide theoretical background for engineering hMSC spheroids with defined size evaluate process needed microcarrier-based expansion hMSCs. Finally, based on experimental data, ideal setups each type recommended.
